"We are all of us stars and we deserve to twinkle."
– Marilyn Monroe.
Do you love to peruse through fashion magazines imagining yourself swathed in one of the alluring and exquisite gowns? What is it that catches your eyes, the fabric, the cut, or just the complete ambience of the photo shoot? For me it is all of that and more... much, much more.
Colour seduces me in all forms from fabrics through to my watercolour sketches and nature, ever since I was a young girl using my crayons in the colouring books Mum bought for me while sitting in the sun on our back porch.
"All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them."
– Walt Disney.
I am a creative, not only am I a Designer/Patternmaker but also an Artist, a Writer, a Tutor with a hint of photography thrown into the mix. Primarily though I am a womenswear Designer/Patternmaker having worked in Auckland, London, Melbourne and Sydney primarily for high profile designers and the big corporate companies.
Concurrently I also had my own bespoke studio producing beautiful wedding and evening gowns as well as tailored wear for a discerning clientele.
"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."
– Coco Chanel.
I did my training in Auckland with a German tutor who gave me the solid technical grounding required for this demanding industry. I specialised in Plus Sizes while living in London and these ladies are still my favourite to work with. I love helping curvy ladies enhance their silhouettes and not wrap themselves in swathes of fabric to hide their figures. All it does is create volume.
I tutor for the Academy of Fashion Design (Further Learning Group of Ireland) as well as tutor privately from one to four students at a time. I relish teaching immensely and have found a real niche for it.
